Leaders of the Police service in the UK long held a desire to commemorate the thousands of men and women who have given their lives to protect their communities. The UK Police Memorial at the national Memorial Arboretum was dedicated in 2021 by HM King Charles III, then Prince of Wales.

Our team supported the Police service with a wide ranging Planning Study, including fundraising, design and build and governance. We were further retained to help establish a new charity, the Police Arboretum Memorial Trust. The project raised over £5 million in four years.

As a comprehensive, 360 option, the team continues to direct and manage all day to day aspects of the charity: fundraising, marketing and communications, government relations, design and construction, budgets and finance, reporting and compliance and project management of a world first digital and interactive remembrance programme.

St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield needed to undertake a multi-million pound redevelopment of its inpatient care facilities.  Morgen Thomas Ltd supported that outstanding organisation with a Planning Study to assess their potential for a major capital appeal, identify its leaders and major donor prospects and develop a strategy.

We then provided specialist support for their Trustees, senior management and fundraising team on a day to day basis as they implemented the Room to Care appeal – without erosion of annual giving.  St Luke’s exceeded its target of £5 million with a boost of over £850,000 in government funding and new major donors are now engaged with the ongoing programme work of St Luke’s.

Most importantly the people of Sheffield now have a beautiful, calming environment when they require end of life care and St Luke’s facilities now match the excellence of the care they have always provided.

Birmingham City University has an exceptional reputation for widening access, developing skills and working in partnership with its city and region. It is also home to one of the world’s best music schools: the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

The Morgen Thomas team, with our regional and global experience in fundraising management for Higher Education and the Arts, helped the University develop a strategy to augment its £56 million investment in a new Conservatoire with a further £10 million of added value philanthropy.

Working with renowned classical music star, Julian Lloyd Webber, we provided ongoing support to the Conservatoire not just with the implementation of the fundraising campaign but also with the translation of the programme to become a highly effective, Development and Alumni Relations Office.

The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is one of the world’s greatest orchestras.

Through objective consultation with donors and sponsors and benchmarking off our experience with orchestras and performing arts organisations around the world, we supported the CBSO in the development of a major donor and endowment strategy, the restructure of the CBSO Development Trust and the retention of a new Director of Development.

The CBSO went on to achieve its initial endowment target of £1 million, matched pound for pound by the Arts Council of England, and now benefits from some of the highest levels of philanthropy in its nearly 100 year history.
